101 in 1001: Month 5 Update

It's JULY 2016?! That means my summer job is almost over and the next Fall semester is about to start!

101 in 1001: Month 5 Update

  • I tried out 3 new restaurants in my area. One was a BBQ place called JD's (and yes it lived up to all of my expectations) and the other was a bar in Atlanta called The Bucket Cafe. The third one wasn't exactly "in my area" but it was an hour away so I am counting it. It was in Dahlonega, GA and it was called Foothill Grill. We went for breakfast and nom nom nom. Keep your eyes posted for a food review!
  • I ran more. I'm at 175/500! (As of July 22, 2015)
  • I ran my third 5k! On July 4, I ran in the Freedom Run! You can read about it more here!
  • I wrote an apology letter. The person probably doesn’t deserve it, but sometimes you’ve just got to let it out. Read it here.
  • I booked my flight to Chicago. On my list I have that I want to try to travel more and I just told you all about my new blog series, Here Goes, which is a challenge to myself to visit a new spot every 6-8 weeks! I can't wait to share my trip to Chicago at the beginning of September!
Not a whole lot happened officially this month, but a whole lot was planned! I can't wait for the next few months - except finding a job after camp ends! :(

Toned Up Tuesday: Fresh Re-Start & My 3rd 5k!

Okay, it happened. I got busy with camp and life and I slacked on both my eating habits and my gym attendance. I haven't attended the gym in two weeks. I really just eat what I want. I feel content with my body but I don't want to go back to where I came from. I'm going to start the Fit Nika Gym Guide over. I made it to 12 weeks but was not consistent with my workouts. This time around I'm going to get to week 16 to give you a full review and an impressive progress pic!

Here are my starting stats:

Weight: 154.4 lbs.

Chest: 38 inches

Waist: 30.25 inches

Hips: 39 inches

Right Leg: 21.25 inches

Right Calf: 14.25 inches

And as usual, my starting photo:

Freedom Run

I ran in my local Fourth of July 5k this past weekend and it was different! I felt defeated by this 5k when I finished. I hadn't trained and I finished in about 35 minutes again. I know that's not a slow run and I should be proud but I was disappointed in my progress during the actual race. I walked more than I would've liked and I was getting terrible cramps in my side.

An Apology Letter To My Ex-BFF

To Whom May or May Not Deserve It:

I’m sorry we’re not friends anymore. I’m sorry that the last straw was over something that I really did not have control over. I’m sorry you chose not to believe your “best friend”. I’m sorry I didn’t fully act like a “best friend”. I’m sorry we grew apart. I’m sorry we tried to pretend we were closer than we actually were. I’m sorry.

Do I wish we were still friends? Sometimes. I hope you are doing better. I hope you’re happier. I hope you’ve really truly let go of the past and everything. I really hope you’ve moved past all the dumb drama that home still gives you. I hope you’re getting the most out of life and that you don’t get involved with the wrong people.

I want you to know that I’m okay as well. I sometimes miss our past friendship but I have recognized that in the last few months before ending our friendship that we weren’t really each others friends. We were going through the motions. It’s okay for people to drift apart. It’s okay that we had to have a falling out to really come to terms with what our relationship as friends really was. I’m doing the best I can do during this time of my life and I have every intention of reaching each goal of mine.

I hope you’re doing the same.
